It has really helped me study. It is the best club I have enjoyed.” • “I feel good about myself. I have improved in school because of the second step program.Thank you for helping me and caring about our education.” • “I feel like it is a great group. It will help you even when you are an adult.”

  13. Student Quotes about the Check & Connect Programfrom the Student Perception Survey • “I like the mentoring program because I finally have someone that can help me get through the things that I couldn't get through and help me do the things that I'm supposed to do and just someone to talk to if I have an interest in something that I want to talk about.” • “I really like this mentoring program because I get to talk about my day with a teacher that can give me some ideas and check on me during the day. I really like my mentor Mrs. Dyas. She is really nice and cares about my day and she has told me to make a list of stuff that has to be finished and tape it to my desk. When I finish some of the work I check it off and at the end of the day I show her what I have done. She has really helped me through this year she even bumped me up 2 grades. With the list my math went from a C to an A in one month. I think this mentoring program has really helped me this year and Ihope it will help other students as the years go on.”“I feel happy because someone is there to help me with my problems and wants to help me. And I think she is doing a great job with me. Now I am more organized and responsible most of the time. And the good thing is that I know she cares and she makes my life a lot simpler and somehow I learned how to calm myself down. When I get angry I just think of her.”
