  2. User centric E2E session TR CRESTEL 26/1/2010 - STF360 results and perspectives

  3. User expectations • Any terminal or any access to use any service in a heterogeneous environment. • Continuous comprehensive service throughout the whole session while moving or changing terminal • During this session, service connectivity is considered as a composition of elements in each layer (User, Terminal, Network and Service). TR CRESTEL 26/1/2010 - STF360 results and perspectives

  4. Dynamic Management Conception E2E QoS Provisioning Transfer Management Instrumentation Monitoring Lifecycle of QoS management (Convergence of planes) Innovative points of STF 360 • User centric approach (Personalization: E2E Service Composition, User profile) • E2E QoS continuity according to user’s preference (QoS model). • Dynamic QoS management at every network interface (Home network, Access network, Core network and Service network) Context: One multiservice session considering heterogeneous and mobility environment (User mobility, terminal mobility, service mobility and network mobility) TR CRESTEL 26/1/2010 - STF360 results and perspectives

  7. Proposed WI for enhancement: “Enhanced SIP for personalized composition of services supporting E2E QoS expected from a user centric point of view”

  8. Scope of work to be undertaken • Service layer plays an important role in the end-to-end QoS. • But today, this is not taken into consideration and most of all, the services do not account for it. • The user centric session is the mean to choose the component of services in order to have the overall personalized service, from the terminal level to the service level, through the network level. • Today SIP supports network resource allocation. It seems as well to be a good candidate for resource allocation at service level. • Also, from a user centric point of view, QoS could be enhanced by using service composition, for which SIP could also be useful.. • Moreover, such possibility could be seen as a new opportunity for operators to provide new offers with their partners. • A standardized approach for the composition of services supporting E2E QoS should facilitate the convergence of Telco and IT services. TR CRESTEL 26/1/2010 - STF360 results and perspectives

  9. Goal • What : End to End QoS in User Centric Context • Why : Because each level contributes at this QoS • Equipment : Computing delivery (CPU and memory) • Network : Media delivery • Service (components and platform) : Service delivery • How : With top down* approach (through SIP), service composition (SoA) and user preferences *versus IN that are bottom-up (BCP/PoI/PoR) TR CRESTEL 26/1/2010 - STF360 results and perspectives
