UKGovernmentOpensCheveningScholarshipsforIndianStudents Indianstudentskeentopursuemaster’sdegreeprogrammesintheUKhaveanopportunitytoapplyfortheprestigiousCheveningScholarships2021-22announcedonAug.3. ThesearesponsoredbytheUKForeign,CommonwealthandDevelopmentOfficeanditspartnerorganisations.Selectedstudentswillbeawardedscholarshipstostudyinthecountryforoneyearonacompletelyfundedmaster’sdegreecourse. Asidefromthewaiveronthetuitionfee,successfulcandidatesgettoexperiencequalityeducationattopUKuniversities,getspecialchancestonetwork,andalsoanopportunitytodiscoverthecountry’sdiverseculture. Theinternationalscholarshipschemehasbeenchurningoutpotentialgloballeaderssince1983,withanalumnigroupofover50,000. Scholarshipwinnersgetfulltuitionfees,thecostofonevisaapplication,anarrivalallowance,amonthlystipend,ahomewarddepartureallowance,atravelgranttoattendCheveningeventsintheUK,andtoandfrotravelcosts.

Anapplicantneedstohaveatleasttwoyearsofworkexperience.He/shemustalsoapplytothreeeligibleUKuniversityprogrammesandshouldhavereceivedanunconditionalofferfromoneofthesebyJuly14,2022.Thecandidatemustalsoreturntohis/hercountryofcitizenshipforaminimumoftwoyearsafterthescholarshipends.Anapplicantneedstohaveatleasttwoyearsofworkexperience.He/shemustalsoapplytothreeeligibleUKuniversityprogrammesandshouldhavereceivedanunconditionalofferfromoneofthesebyJuly14,2022.Thecandidatemustalsoreturntohis/hercountryofcitizenshipforaminimumoftwoyearsafterthescholarshipends. CompletinganundergraduatedegreeisalsoamustforgettingontoapostgraduateprogrammeataUKuniversity. Thecourseschosenshouldbefull-time,muststartinSeptember/Octoberandneedtobetaughtmaster’s(i.e.notresearch-focusedmaster’sinresearchprogrammes). TheapplicationdeadlineisNov.2,2021,afterwhichapplicationswillbesiftedbasedoneligibilitycriteria.IndependentreadingcommitteeswillevaluatealleligibleapplicationsandthensharetheirassessmentwithlocalBritishEmbassiesorHighCommissions.Thisprocesswillbeconductedfrommid-NovembertoDecember2021. Fromearlytomid-February2022,applicantswillbeshortlistedforinterviewsandfromFebruarytoApril2022,shortlistedcandidateswillberequiredtosubmittworeferencesandtheireducationdocumentsbeforetheirinterviewdate.ResultswillbedeclaredinJune2022. Oneofthelargestscholarshipschemesglobally,CheveningIndiaoffersupto65fullypaidscholarshipsand65fullypaidfellowshipseachyear. ApplicantsfromIndiacanchooseanycourseofstudy,includingforeignpolicy,climatechange,defence,security,urbandevelopment,research,innovation,tradeandinvestment,andeconomicreforms. TheEnglishlanguagerequirementwasdoneawaywithin2020.However,itismandatorytomeetallcriteriafromthechosenuniversityandhaveanunconditionalofferfromoneofthethreecoursechoicesbythedeadline.
