  3. Where are they installed? TDC2 BA 80 Two groups of 3 magnets They are designed with V supporting and automatic plug ins Installation rails are on place, and prealigned with the magnet JL GRENARD EN/HE

  4. Checks made around the installed splitters in TDC2 • Measurement of all the keys dimensions • Done on each splitter to verify repeatability • Checks (photos) of each splitter to identify special obstacles or environment differences JL GRENARD EN/HE

  5. Checks made around the installed splitters in TDC2 • Check of the status of the transfer rails They are all ok, there is some rust but not on rolling or guiding surfaces JL GRENARD EN/HE

Dosimetric point of view • The whole operation is feasible with 2 peoples close to the radioactive objects at ~2m (other people is needed for the preparation of the work) • Complete installation or removal can be done in 1h (without including the preparation time) • The collective dose will be ~2mSv to be shared among all transport intervenient • Mainly depending on cooling time • A few minutes in contact with the magnet are needed for some visual checks JL GRENARD EN/HE

  12. Dosimetric point of view • Some mobile lead shielding will be installed in front of the elements on each side to protect from highly radioactive components as extremities JL GRENARD EN/HE

  13. Optimization Only minors things can be done • Better storage of the cables between the tractor and the translation unit -> reducing the risk of damaging the cables -> under procurment • Additional positioning tooling JL GRENARD EN/HE

  14. In case of a failure of the equipment • Lifting with hydraulic hand jacks to take out the load of the translation unit • Removal of the translation unit from radioactive area for repair with a fork lift • Some key components of the machine: electrics motors are already at CERN • In general very robust and easy machines, no electronics and some functions • Don’t expect major failures JL GRENARD EN/HE

Under realization • Refurbishment of the Loehr trailer - electrical refurbishment (check of the motors, new control cabinet, new switches) -mechanical refurbishment (bearing, chains…) • Procurement of spares cables, and some extra spares parts • Improvement of the cable liaison between the systems JL GRENARD EN/HE

  16. In case it’s needed we are ready to exchange the splitters in TDC2! • 4 peoples are trained for this operation • If the temporary removal is a need a simulation on the mock will be realized again JL GRENARD EN/HE
