  3. Top tips • In class – discuss with peers what they think as often as you can – expanding your own ideas • Do the same out of lesson to support each other with homework and independent study • Check with your teacher how long homework tasks should take so you can ensure you don’t ‘do too much’ • Youtube has so many explanation videos for Psychology – use them  • Netflix/ 4OD/BBC iplayer/podcasts also have great documentaries

  4. Student expectations • ALWAYS bring your folder to the lesson • Marked work – goes in a separate folder with the assessment tracker • Attend all lessons • IF absent - Collect missing work when absent – attend Psychology extra to catch up • Hand homework in on time and to a good standard • Year 12 - To be doing 1-2 hours per topic • (averaging at 3 hours per week) • Year 13 – to be 1 – 2 hours for classwork and 1 -2 hours revision • (averaging at 3 hours per week) • To see me if they are struggling or need extra support

  5. Resources Each book cost approximately £28 from Amazon – potentially less if second hand. • I recommend getting the book if: • Students are falling below target • Students need help with revision • Students find organisation difficult as the information is already structured for them in one place.

  6. Extension and independent study time • Reading over notes and marked work • Making revision tools • Reading examiners reports • Watching documentaries on the topics we study • There’s a movie list at the back of the room for non-ficton too • Reading about other psychological topics we don’t study • Creating quizzes for yourself or friends • Creating a definitions list – to check recall

  7. Supportoffered • Weekly revision sessions - Monday • In lesson discussions • Email – fast responses at all times and days • Exam writing booklets • Content booklets • Real life news articles/ statistics shared and available

  8. Parental recommendations • Help them with their organisation of time – make a timetable with them • Quiz them on studies, therapies, the assumption, definitions • Watch psychological documentaries with them • PLEASE read their essays if you can – if it doesn’t make sense to you – its may be poorly written - a good essay can be understood by anyone • Feed them if needs be 
