  2. King Henry • There are many ways to understand how to change metric measurements, but one of the most common methods is the King Henry one. King Henry Died By Drinking Chocolate Milk Each underlined letter above represents the prefix in the metric system: K – kilo H – hecto D – deca B – stands for the base unit D – deci C – centi M - milli

Conversions • To change units of measurement, find the starting point on the King Henry scale. • Then identify the ending point on the scale. • How many times do you have to move to the right or left? • That is how many times you move the decimal point in the starting number and in the same direction. Ex. 500 mm = _____ cm King Henry Died By Drinking Chocolate Milk You begin on the M in milk. To go to the C in chocolate, you have to move 1 time to the left. Therefore, you have to move the decimal point in 500 one time to the left. Answer = 50 cm
