This study examines the soil characteristics of two upland sites in Jay, Santa Rosa County, Florida. Both sites are located on gentle southeast-facing slopes with acidic, forested environments dominated by longleaf pine and wiregrass. The first site, Orangeburg, features moderate infiltration and water availability with slight limitations for dwellings and septic systems. The second site, Troup Complex, displays high infiltration rates but similarly moderate water availability and slight limitations. Both soils are classified as Ultisols, displaying ochric epipedons and argillic or kandic subsurface horizons.
