  2. CSUSB’s Vision A word from our CSUSB President • “…The overarching and unifying goal of the university is to excel as a learning institution that offers students the skills, experiences, and insights they need to be successful at the next stage of their lives.” • “Earning a college degree is a genuine achievement – one that requires commitment, hard and smart work, and sacrifice…” President Albert K. Karnig Coyote Communiqué (June 16, 2011) CSUSB’s Vision: The university will serve the region, state, and nation by preparing leaders for the 21st century with a global outlook and the skills needed for educational, social, economic, political, environmental and cultural advancement. 3. CBPA’s Vision A word from our CBPA Dean Business schools exist to enhance the development and distribution of knowledge to its students. This requires close engagement with our business stakeholders; having them connect with students and academic staff to ensure our students are fit for purpose. As we’re faced with world changes at an ever increasing rate, we must deliver appropriate business knowledge and capabilities to our students for them to remain competitive as well as for our business stakeholders. Sustainable competitive advantage for a business school is no longer about providing basic discipline specific skills like Accounting and Finance, we must also contribute to the creation of high-level skills like critical thinking, global perspective, ethical practices, creativity and innovation talent, communication ability, including the ability to be aware of how one impacts the world around themselves. As such we’re a place where students can be exposed to new possibilities and prepare to meet the challenges which will face them upon graduation. Lawrence C. Rose, Ph.D.Dean, CBPA College of Business and Public Administration A word from our CBPA Dean Our Public Administration colleagues are also confronted with challenges in the face of the global financial crisis. In addition to addressing issues around social, economic, and political factors, a public administrator’s stakeholder is much more diverse than the business stakeholder. Yet, in our College, all departments and units face many of the same challenges as leaders in public or private institutions – that is seeking ways to be successful. However, having a College with many capabilities to address the issues facing these organizations should allow us to take a lead in the region and make an impact on our key community partners through providing an education workforce, applied research solutions and training opportunities. "We’re pleased to recommend CSUSB to readers of our book and users of our web site as one of the best institutions they could attend to earn an MBA," said Robert Franek, Princeton Review Vice President-Publishing."We select schools for this book based on our high regard for their academic programs and offerings, institutional data we collect from the schools, and the candid opinions of students attending them who rate and report on their campus experiences at the schools." The M.B.A program was also recognized as one of the best colleges by U.S. News. The mission of the M.B. A program is to offer a high-quality master’s level education. Central to their vision is preparing tomorrow’s business leaders. 10. Meeting the goal Undergraduate Student Advising Undergraduate Student Advising is an important component of a student’s academic journey. Student Advising staff provide quarterly guidance to undeclared students for the CBPA. Resources for advising include Department Chairs, faculty members, or the Undergraduate Student Advising Program.  Selecting a Concentration: Degrees are offered in either a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science, and there are sixteen concentrations from which to choose. Students majoring in Business Administration are required to select a concentration no later than in their junior year. Department Advising is provided to students with a declared concentration in Business Administration (e.g. Management, Accounting, etc.). Students should seek advising from either the Department Chair or faculty member within their concentration. To accommodate student advising, faculty maintain open office hours on a quarterly basis.   Student Organizations is another integral part of student life. It’s important that students have the opportunity to join a student organization related to their field of study. Membership provides occasions for students to learn and exercise new skills in networking, leadership, organization, planning, presentations, and so forth.   CBPA Internship Program – Angie Webb What is CBPA known for?
