Individual assignment is coming! • Individual assignment is due in Wk 8 (after break) • in tutorials • Worth 25% - 2000 words + references • 2 articles from AUSTRALIAN NEWSPAPERS available at a newsagent or periodicals • Published between 1st- 30th September • Newspaper recommendations are: • Sydney Morning Herald, The Australian, The Australian Financial Review • Suggested periodical: The Economist, BRW • Q1) Implications for ausgovt, aus business and international businesses

  2. Individual assignment is coming! • Q2) Must refer to relevant business concepts or theories • e.g. Trade theories (Porters Diamond, Mercantilsmetc) • Concepts tend to be done more poorly • E.g. papers based around globalisation are generally not as good

Some assignment issues for you to note • Students need to ensure that the two articles are reporting on different things but fall under the same topic area • The date of each article must be clear ie must fall within the allotted time period • Your 12 references do notinclude the two newspaper articles • As a guide, you should arrange your paper as follows: • Intro – 100 words • Question 1 – 700 words • Question 2 – 1100 words • Conclusion – 100 words

Some assignment issues for you to note • As the format of your paper is an ESSAY you need to include an introduction and conclusion • As the format of your paper is an ESSAY there is no requirement for a table of contents or a executive summary • Your reference list (listing all the references you have used to develop your essay) is not part of your word count: • but your in-text citations are • For help with referencing please see the Referencing Help document in the folder for Assignment 1 on iLearn under the assessments tab

  5. Some assignment issues for you to note • General issues: • Don’t spend much time outlining your article. You should have attached it anyway. • Headings are fine but need to be limited to two or three at most (do not have Q1a, Q1b etc as headings) • This assignment is not long. You need to choose what you write about and focus on wisely • Comparative analysis is good!
