RR Lyrae Observations

RR Lyrae Observations. M B,V,I,K = m B,V,I,K - 5 log d + 5 To calibrate M B,V,I,K we need: • BVIK light curves for field RRL • • BVIK light curves for cluster RRL •. BVIK light curves of field RRL. 60 field RRL in A-List BVI : Most have PE/CCD B,V light curves.

  1. RR Lyrae Observations MB,V,I,K = mB,V,I,K - 5 log d + 5 To calibrate MB,V,I,K we need: • BVIK light curves for field RRL • • BVIK light curves for cluster RRL •

  2. BVIK light curves of field RRL • 60 field RRL in A-List • BVI: • Most have PE/CCD B,V light curves. • Have been obtaining I with BGSU 0.5m+CCD • Plan to complete all stars w/ d > -20° by Sep 2004. • K: • 16 stars need K, most in South. • Propose queue-scheduled 2MASS at CTIO?

  3. BGSU 0.5m+CCD RRL

  4. Locations of Field RRL

  5. BVIK LCs of cluster RRL • BVI: • Six of the 13 RRL-bearing globulars have BVI. • Four need BVI: M13, M30, NGC362, NGC6723. • w Cen needs BI. • M55 and 47 Tuc need I. • Obtained with CTIO 0.9m and LCO 40”. • Propose continuation with 2MASS at CTIO? • K: • Will need to do most of the clusters, ~15 visits each. • Begin in 2004/5? SOAR, LCO 100”, MDM 2.4m?

  6. BVI data on RRL in globulars • w Cen: 66 visits in BI … done! • NGC 362: 25 visits in BVI … done? • 47 Tuc: 20 visits in I … done? • NGC 6732: 7 visits in BVI … needs more. • Will analyze images in Summer 2004.
