  1. How iHeart saved radio by: Victor Villegas

  2. Was invented in 1895 by Nikola Telsa and Guglielmo Marconi( not together, but in direct competition). Radio was first used during WWI and WWII as wireless telegraphy communication in the battle field. Radio was the first media that reached homes. Great way to spread political propaganda. Great entertainment and commercial value. 1920s and mid 1950s was radios “golden years.” later overshadowed by TV. Early Radio and History

  3. Will video kill the radio star- again? • MTV –when they played music- and music videos “killed” radio artist. Now artist needed an on camera identity to be successful in music. • Not so long ago- about seven years- there was talk about how the iPod and podcast would be the final nail in radios coffin. • Lets remember that radio stations were very specific as to what its contents were and the iPod phenomena gave people the ability to put a bunch of music and pick, mix, store and shuffle as many songs as they wanted and anywhere they wanted it. • In order to keep up with Ipods, radio response was to fire “on-Air” staff and replace radio commentary with a “Jack” style concept and play what they want, instead of focusing on a specific genre of music ( Jack FM we play what we want) • Radio survived, but was losing an uphill battle. • XM Satellite radio, music players, internet, Youtubewere all fading radio away.
