  4. FOOD FOOD Sea otters eat 1/5 of their own weight. They will eat abalones, clams, crabs, fish, mussels, octopuses, sea urchins and squids.
  5. Hunted By… once hunted by people and almost became extinct but then stopped by law sharks birds During a oil spill in 1989, over 11 million gallons spilled and almost 2,800 sea otters died. Oil causes their water proof like fur to lose is ability to protect them from water. They get to cold, then they get hypothermia making them die.
  6. REPRODUCTION the mom has a pup 1 at a time holds the pup on chest while swimming on back
  7. FUN FACTS!! Sea otters can dive up to 180 feet! The sea otter is the only water mammal with no blubber for warmth
