  1. PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL CHANGE PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES 1.Physical Properties of matter Physical properties are properties possessed by a matter when the matter does not change into a new matter Example . Density ( massa jenis ) . Phase ( wujud zat, solid, liquid and gas ) . Colour . Solubility ( Kelarutan) . Solidity ( kekerasan ) . Electrical and conductivities . Magnetic properties . Aroma or odor . Taste ( rasa)

  2. 2. Chemical Properties of matter Chemical properties are properties of an object relation to the formation of a new Substance. Example - Flammable ( mudah terbakar ) - Corosible( easy to rust ) mudah berkarat. The rusting of metal occurs because of the interaction between the metal and oxygen - Decomposable ( mudah membusuk ex rotten garbage ) - Corrosive ( merusak) can destroy other substance - Explosive ( mudah meledak ) Some object can have explosive properties because of their interaction with oxygen or - Other substance ( ex uranium, magnesium ) - Poisonous ( beracun )

  3. B.PHYSICAL CHANGE AND CHEMICAL CHANGE 1. Physical change The Characteristic of physical change Substance which have changed can regain its initial form In a physical change no new substance are formed A physical change is followed by the change in physical properties 2. Chemical Change The characteristic of chemical change Substance which have changed are difficult or impossible to regain their initial formed In chemical change , new substance are formed A chemical change is followed by a chemical reaction

  4. 3. CHEMICAL REACTION Chemical reaction is the phenomenon of chemical change from reactant ( reacting substance ) into product ( substance produces by the reaction process) a One example of chemical reaction indicated by the change in color is reaction of whitewash and sulfuric acid . b. The sediment formation, example HCL + NaOH NaCl + H2O . c. The symptom of a gas formation, example Magnesium + HCl light green solution + Hydrogen gas . d. The Change in temperature , Example The reaction of carbide and water,

  5. BENEFITS OF MATTER CHANGE • The process of matter change has important roles for human life, its because basically most of natural materials exploited from this nature by human beings cannot be used directly to meet the needs of human life, however the materials need to be processed first through physical or chemical process. • Example • Physical changes : 1. The process to exploit many materials for medicines in many various plants 2. the process of making sugar, and salt 3. the process of mixture separation • Chemical changes 1. the process of making tape ,fertilizers, 2. processes in obtaining new materials and artificial chemical substance 3. process of cooking food
