  1. A spinal cord injury (SCI) is typically defined as damage or trauma to the spinal cord that in turn results in a loss or impaired function resulting in reduced mobility or feeling. Quadriplegia or Tetraplegia is when a person has a spinal cord injury above the first thoracic vertebra (T1), C1 to C8 resulting in paralysis of all four limbs. This may result in partial or complete paralysis of the arms as well as complete paralysis of the legs. More info about SCI Paty’s injury fifth vertebra –cervical of the spine C5 Hi, mynameis Irma Patricia González Salinas -Paty- from Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz (Mexico) I have a spinalcordinjuryduetoa car accident nine years ago. ActuallyI’m 23 years and I’mdoing a degree in accountancy online.Basically I spend my time studying and making physical therapy to maintain the body in a good condition. Unfortunately, there is still no cure, it is no possible to regenerate the nervous tissue that is in the spinal cord. Meanwhile, we maintain faith without worrying but keeping us busy. Eventually, there are news about researches or treatments for spinal cord injuries, but even the countries with most advance science and technology seem to be limited because they do not obtain the expected results.

  2. Because of the last characteristic maybe this therapy has not been taken seriously by governments and pharmaceutics, to the contrary, it has encountered too many obstacles for proliferation. Today I am very happy to have good news because there is an investigation that is worthy to follow. The technique involves the autologous transplantation of olfactory glial cells to the damaged site in the spinal cord. This investigation is headed by Dr. Almudena Ramon Cueto in Spain. The investigation catches my attention due to the successful results in treated animals, but even more I am impressed with the features of these olfactory bulb cells: • The cells are not rejected by the body because they are not modified. • The cells do not generate tumors. • Autologous therapy, the patient is the donor. • The therapy is not patentable, there are no economic benefits. CLICK HERE PLEASE TO SEE THE VIDEO “Why so much interest that the project do not progress? Why the project is not supported by political and health institutions? Why other Spanish investigators oppose so starkly? Sincerely I do not know and do not understand. I do not want to imagine that is by an unethical interest. There are many people that suffer an spinal cord injury and I think everybody should cooperate in the effort to help them from their own investigation projects without blocking their colleagues projects.” Dr. Maria Delgado.

  3. The appointed research has been supported by the FIRSN Foundation (Research on Regeneration of the Nervous System), this foundation earned my respect because is formed by people that had suffered a spinal cord injury that had a common interest like me, achieve physical independence. They are dedicating their lives to find a real cure for a spinal cord injury and finally there is a technic and a protocol to follow. Recently in February 2012, Project Lazarus appears. Project Lazarus is a support platform for FIRSN, it helps to the collection of 700,000 euros that are going to make possible the application of this autologous cells transplant in human beings with spinal cord injury. It will begin with 5 patients but for me is like lightning the flame that will activate a healing explosion. I as a woman of faith have decided to support against all political and economic blocks, it is time to leave my wheelchair aside. We know the term impossible, so do not let the money be the one that block our healing. If this works it will be an historical event, then nothing will be impossible. Web Site Web Site
