  2. Lymphatic Filariasis is a parasitic disease affecting the immune system

  3. It is common in many tropical and subtropical areas

  4. It is caused by roundworms, which are carried by mosquitos Wuchereria bancrofti Anopheles mosquito

  5. The roundworms enter the human body and produce microfilariae

  6. The microfilariae block lymphatic vessels, causing swelling and fever

  7. Treatment includes antifilarial drugs and proper care of affected areas

  8. DEC interferes with arachidonic acid metabolism in microfilariae deithylcarbamazine

  9. “Preventive chemotherapy” is used to reduce susceptible populations
