  1. In our assemblies and in our lives is being fulfilled what Christ did for the Samaritan woman. May the Church never tire of announcing God’s gift. To give first place to ethics risks to turn off the source of wonder: "The proof that God loves us is that Christ died for us while we were still sinners. "

  2. O n the road toward Easter the Church lingers near sources :the one which God, being tested, made gush forth from the rock. Jesus is a gift from God, the fountain of living water.

  3. T he episode of Massah and Meribah brings forth the question that believers who relate to the Biblical tradition often ask themselves. If God is someone who loves us and wants our happiness, how is it that we have the impression that he is absent especially, at the worst moments? Let the believers understand! The Lord God expects their complete confidence no matter what may happen. To require him to intervene is akin toidolatry.

  4. I n the desert, God brought forth water from the rock, although he is himself is the "Rock" that provides solidity, protection, refuge. The Psalm sings with the full confidence given to the Lord: "Yes, he is our God; we are the people he leads."

  5. F aith, hope, love, these are three attitudes that characterize Christ’s disciples: they are gifts from God. It is God "who has given us, through faith, access to the world of grace. " His "love has been poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit. "

  6. W hat do the episode ofMassa and Meribah have in common with the lengthy account of the Samaritan woman? In both cases, the risk is to only skim the surface of faith. The objective of both readings is to deepen the faith.

  7. Prayer to Christ Lord Jesus, weary traveller on the road, we meet you at Jacob’s well and we pray: give us to drink! Give to us from this source that springs into eternal life and never runs dry. Awaken and keep in us the desire for this water. May we receive it wholeheartedly and thereby testify to it. Amen.
