  2. Examples of immigration in the book

  3. Massacre In Ethiopia Pg. 136-144 In the chapter: The Gilo, Benson describes the way he and other people were treated when they were in Ethiopia, and he describes the way the people were massacred by the Ethiopian woman while they were trying to escape from Ethiopia to another place.

  4. Kenya When the people arrived to the refugee camp in Kenya. The workers in the refugee camp had to put a fence around the camp. They had to this because the Kenyan people were attacking the refugees. One example is that if a refugee girl got out of the camp she could get raped by the Kenyan men.

  5. *Villagers* Villagers got mad at the refugees for eating their crops, and also some of them would beat up the refugees.

  6. Immigration TODAY!! • Immigration is still a big issue around the world and around us.

  7. *Family separation* Just like in the book all over the United States families are being separated because of immigration.

  8. *Work conditions* Immigrants do really hard work and they get paid less than the minimum wage.

  9. *Education opportunities* Undocumented students don’t have the right to get college funds even if they have lived here all their live.

  10. WHAT CAN WE DO?

  11. We can vote!!! One fact is that if we vote we can get our voice to be heard and there is a better chance for us on succeeding to have the the change in the laws we would like.

  12. *Congressmen* We can let the congressmen know a bout the changes we think could be helpful, so they can decide on a way that could make them possible to become reality.

  13. *Community work* We can inform our community so together we can let the government know that we aren't happy with what they are doing, and also to let them know that we are willing to do anything in order to get them to make a change in the laws.
