Yr 12 ESL is essential for those students who have English as a second or other language and are planning to gain entry to an Australian university. During this year you will - • deepen your knowledge about academic writing skills • learn to think even more critically about literature and social issues and • become more confident in public speaking.
2. In order to do well in ESL this year you will need to work hard, both independently and in class. 3. This means • doing all your homework, • writing drafts • going through grammar mistakes, • paying attention in class, • reading widely also at home, • practising speaking and listening skills with native English speaking people.
4. To get an ‘A’ in Yr.12 English is possible, but only if you are willing to put time and effort into this subject. Even to pass you are expected to work at least 5 hours a week on this subject.
> 3 written tasks (2 under test conditions) > 3 spoken tasks ( 1 in pairs, 2 individual) • Term 1 – Feature Article on Families • Term 2 – Novel study– “Chinese Cinderella” • Term 3 – Shakespeare – “Othello” • Term 4 – Advertising Analysis ASSESSMENT and TOPICS
