  1. NE ROC overview Jules Wolfrat/ Per Öster The Hague

  2. Resources • Netherlands (NLGrid) • 366 WN CPUs • SE, RBs for NLGrid and EGEE, VO LDAP servers • Belgium (BEGrid) – 6 sites running LCG2 software, not integrated in EGEE yet • Issue is how to get access to EGEE resources, currently no groups in Belgium partners of an existing VO. But they are willing to exchange resources. First step could be to have resource sharing between NLGrid and BEGrid. Agreements needed. SA1 all hands meeting 25 November 2004, The Hague

  3. Resources • Sweden (SNIC/SWEGRID) Three sites (non-HEP sites; “just gives us the middleware”) • HPC2N • Status: • “Supernode” Installation (mistake to wait for re-locatable WN supposed to appear in October?) • Eventually 100 CPU system • PDC • Status: • “Supernode” Installation (-- ” --) • Eventually 100 CPU system • NSC • Status: • RH7.3 Manual Installation • On the preproduction grid • 32 CPU • SE, CE, WN ( GGAS (Grid bank), SWEGRID VO Management tool) SA1 all hands meeting 25 November 2004, The Hague

  4. Events • Baltic Grid Conference and Grid Training • Vilnius, October 5 -7 • NE ROC Administrators meeting • SARA Amsterdam 28 -29 October SA1 all hands meeting 25 November 2004, The Hague

  5. VO support • Netherlands • National: NCF, PVIER, ASTRON, Nadc, VLe, Asci • EGEE: ALICE, ATLAS, LHCb, CMS, Dzero, ESR, Magic • Sweden • National: Atlas, NorduGrid (used for individual scientists using SweGrid) • To be transfered EGEE SA1 all hands meeting 25 November 2004, The Hague

  6. NE ROC Support • We are a distributed ROC with locations in Amsterdam (SARA and NIKHEF) and three in Sweden in Umeå, Stockholm and Linköping • We will implement a single user support application accessible by everyone. • We will use RT and an interface will be made to the GGUS database • Alternately on weekly basis Sweden or Holland will be responsible for tracking the NEROC database and assigning tickets. • User support policies – we will try to set up a general policy document. • Web Site http://www.egee-ne.org/ SA1 all hands meeting 25 November 2004, The Hague

  7. Issues (1) • How can we share expertise for e.g. monitoring, or batch systems, or system/farm configurations? (w/ and w/o firewalls) • But is everybody using the same tools? Probably not, not even within the same region. Need inventory • Many answers can be found (for LCG) in the LCG-ROLLOUT archives • About 4000 messages in the last 10 months – can we consolidate? • There are things that will not be answered, or fixed (e.g. because of dependencies, people that left, politics, etc): what do we do in that case? • Accounting: how is this currently done across the region - differently! • How does one keep current with e.g. pbs and maui? Good-will? Or should we explicitly suggest (at least within a region) to upgrade? • A potential problem is to identify dependencies when we talk about upgrades to non-middleware software (or even to middleware software, actually – GridKA had a good example) • Eventually, an issue for SLA • Applications: do we care about what they do to our nodes? • In theory, no. In practice, we may want to think about this • But this is “Grid”™, so it may well involve extra-region considerations SA1 all hands meeting 25 November 2004, The Hague
