What is Knee pain? Knee pain is the most common symptom mainly experienced by the old age person and with severe obesity. Knee pain varies in intensity, depending upon the causing factors. The types of pain most commonly differentiated as: Sharp pain- It is the type of pain sudden on onset, cause stiffness to the knee joints. Dull pain- This types remains constant with very low intensity. Locomotive pain- This depends on the movement, cause stiffness and sets aside with resting. Reason for the occurrence of pain Knee pain is mainly occurs due to damage to the joint and the reason for this can vary with the condition of the patient. Injury: Injury directly to the knee cause damage to the ligaments, muscles or the surrounding tissues which may lead to the inflammation and cause the knee pain. Intensity and nature of pain depends upon the extent of the injury. • Osteoarthritis: It is mainly referred as the inflammation of the knee joint caused due to the wear and tear of the joint. Severe pain is the first and alarming symptom of osteoarthritis, along with the pain, joint stiffness is also the common symptom.
Bursitis- A bursa, a small fluid filled sac present under the skin covering the knee joint. Continuous friction of the knee caused by bruising, abrasion or trauma to the knee may cause inflammation of bursa. This is known as bursitis which is a very painful condition. • Autoimmune Disorder- A condition called as Rheumatoid Arthritis is very painful to the knee occurs due to deficiency of the immune system and it takes much more time to get healed than osteoarthritis.
Treatment of knee pain Treatment of knee pain is traditionally done with oral medicines and sometimes injectable intramuscular or intravenous medicines, till there is no disorder associated to it.
