  1. FOLKTALE Panchatantra: The Louse and the Bedbug softly so that he doesn’t feel any pain.” “I agree,” said the bedbug and both of them waited for the king to come to the bedroom. After a while, the king came to his bedroom and lay down on his bed to sleep. The greedy bedbug forgot all about his promises to the louse and bit the king hard to suck his blood. He liked the taste of the royal blood so he kept on sucking until the king felt an itching sensation on his skin. The king woke up and ordered his servants to look for the bedbug and kill him immediately. But the bedbug was clever. He hid himself cunningly in the joints of the bedstead where he could not be seen. So, when the king’s servants looked through the bed sheets carefully, they saw no trace of the bedbug but found the louse instead. They caught her before she could slip away and killed her. In this way, the louse lost her life because of the bedbug. That is why it is said that one should not trust strangers easily. Once, there was a louse called Mandarisapini. She lived in the bedroom of a mighty king. She used to stay hidden in a corner of the bed sheet that was spread on the king’s beautiful bed. Every night, after the king had slept, the louse used to come out of her hiding place and suck his blood and then she would quietly creep back to her corner. One night, a bedbug called Agnimukha walked into the king’s bedroom. When the louse saw him, she told him to go away immediately as the whole of the bedroom was her territory. The bedbug replied, “I’m not doing any harm. I’m your guest. That is not the way you should treat your guests.” On hearing this, the louse softened a little. She said, “Alright, you can stay here tonight. But you are not allowed to bite the king and suck his blood.” “But, my dear lady, I am your guest after all! You will have to ofer me some food. And what food can be better than the king’s blood?” “Fine,” said the louse. “You can have some of the king’s blood. But be very careful. Bite him very

  2. FIND THE HIDDEN OBJECTS WHY DO CAMELS HAVE HUMPs? Camels are majestic creatures that roam the desert. Have you ever wondered why they have humps? Let us see why: Camels are beautiful creatures that live in the hot and arid climate of the desert. They rule the desert and walk with their heads held high and big humps on their backs. Have you ever wondered why they have humps? It was originally believed that camels store water in the big humps on their backs. But in reality, a camel's hump is a huge bank of fat. This helps the camel survive without food for up to 2 whole weeks! Humans and other animals store fat in their muscle tissue and in the layer beneath their skin. Camels are the only animals that store their fat in their humps. 2

  4. Sam Visits ANTELOPE CANYON SOME INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT ANTELOPE CANYON Discover A New Place I’m at the Upper Antelope Canyon in Arizona. Isn’t it just magical? And just look at that shaft of light. All natural! The Canyon gets its English name from the herds of proghorn antelopes which used to roam around freely here. The Antelope canyon is divided into two parts. The Navajo name for Upper Antelope Canyon is ‘Tsé bighánílíní’, which means “the place where water runs through rocks.”, whereas the lower part of the canyon is called ‘Hasdestwazi’, meaning “spiral rock arches”. How was Antelope Canyon Formed? Antelope Canyon was formed by erosion of Navajo Sandstone; caused by monsoon foods. Eventually, the passageways eroded, and the hard edges were smoothed, creating the characteristic “fowing” shapes in the rocks. Boy do I feel lucky for being here at the right time to see the beams of light that fall here. They’re said to occur only in from April to September. It’s amazing to see what incredible sights nature gives us! Coley and May I, Coley? Bumbley About health and more... Be Nice! Ask for Permission! Everyone is a bit inquisitive. Sometimes we go to a friend or a relative’s house. We play, we jump, we take things, even open cupboards and play inside or we may even try out clothes or shoes! Sometimes we even open the fridge and may even drink water or juice. But wait. Did we ask our friend or relative, if we may touch or play with their things? To ask to use or touch something, or even enter a room is called ‘Asking for Permission’. Some- times people don’t like it and may even get upset, if you touch their things. Your friend may even fght with you and not speak to you because they may feel they are being taken for granted. Asking for permission, before we touch or use something that doesn’t belong to us, is also social etiquette. So, remember to ask for permission the next time!

  5. If You Own Land, How Far Above and Below Do You Own? When you buy a piece of land, it is of common understanding that you are given unrestricted access to a predetermined amount of land. “Cuius est solum, eius est usque ad coelum et ad inferos” is a Latin maxim which is considered to be a traditional starting point to the property law states, “whoever owns the soil, holds title all the way up to the heavens and down to the depths of hell“. So yes, historically, if you owned a piece of land, you owned everything, both above and below the soil from the deepest reaches of the Earth right up to the heavens themselves. But property laws today have come a long way. Now, they vary from country to country. As a property owner, one only has a right to the airspace above their land located in the lower stratum, the precise boundaries for which is still up for debate. And what about the earth below our land? Just like the airspace, this varies. This depends upon, whether one has mineral rights along with ownership of land. For example, if a home-owner fnds out that there is a huge deposit of gas under their home but they don’t have any mineral rights under their land then they can stake no claim over the gas deposit. 7. a comic story sir dig-a-lot Shang Dynasty “Of course. Tonight, let me tell you about the Shang dynasty. It ruled China from 1500 BC to 1100 BC. During these 400 years, over 30 kings ruled the country having seven centers of capital. Unlike many other cultures, the kingship moved from brother to brother to nephew instead of father to son. “We talked about ancient China earlier,” Rohan told Sir Dig-a-Lot. The most important contribution of this dynasty was the invention of writing techniques to record events. They even used to carve writing on bones and used it to predict the future. They used to call the carved bone oracle. The people from Shang dynasty also used tortoise shells along with bones to keep accounts. This practice was also followed by the Greeks. “What else did they discover?” asked Rohan. Sir Dig-a-Lot said, “The Shang dynasty discovered making bronze using tin and copper. It is for this reason that the Age of the Shangs is known as the Bronze Age." The concept of uniting China under the rule of one king also came from the Shang dynasty. The use of a horse drawn carriage, which is believed to have been invented in Central Asia, saw much use in the Shang dynasty. The discovery of a gemstone called jade to make jewelry also happened in the Shang dynasty.” “I guess I should tell you about other Oriental dynasties as well. Maybe next time, Rohan,” Sir Dig-a-Lot concluded. “Can’t wait, Sir Dig-a-Lot!” Rohan said excitedly. 7
