  1. In 1993it started as Open Learning College under the Teacher Training Project (TTP) Asian Development Bank . In 1997 Provincial Institute for Teacher Education (PITE) Peshawar was established for in-service teacher training on analogy of other provinces which works directly under the control of Secretary E&SE Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Notification NO. CPO/3-4/PITE/1997 Dated 10-10-1997). INTRODUCTION OF PITE 12/20/2019

  5. To enhance The learning outcomes Control drop out ratio at early stage Provide access to quality education for Children at the age group of (3-8) years. Looking at the achievement and positive results E&SED (Elementary & Secondary Education KPK) formulated a Provincial ECCE task force in December 2012 headed by Secretary ESED objective of this program 12/20/2019

In 2011 E&SED started a Pilot Project on ECCE in four Districts i.e Peshawar Abbotabad Buneer Battagram with the technical and financial support of DAFT Australia and Save the Children and covered 401 Schools (Imparted training as well established ECCE rooms). PITE was involved in delivery of training as Master Trainers and further follow up and assessment of teachers and students in ECCE Class. History 12/20/2019

  7. ECCE task force provided a Strategic Model on ECCE to ESED regarding owning the ECCE from Save the Children, and assigned the implementation of ECCE Strategic Model to PITE Peshawar. The Strategic Model prescribes to select the Govt. Primary schools for training & establishment of ECCE rooms on the basis of Criteria of at least 5 rooms and 5 Teachers and to be covered all the Schools in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by the year 2020 Strategic Model for ECCE 12/20/2019

Selection Criteria for schools Three teacher and three Rooms Primary school are selected for establishment All those schools have been excluded from the list where ‘Save the Children’has already established ECCE rooms. Districts were selected 4 regions/divison wise – • Block-1 Central (5): Peshawar, Mardan, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi • Block-2 Hazara (6) : Haripur, Abbotabad, Mansehra, Torgahar, Battagram,Kohistan • Block-3 Malakand (7): Malakand, Swat, Buner, Shangla,Chitral, L-Dir, U-Dir • B;lock-4 Southern (7):D.Ikhan, Bannu, Hangu, Lakki Marwat, Karak, Kohat, Tank, Minimum Two Districts from each Regions/Division Total 3142 Primary School (2015-16) Total 4200 Primary School (2016-17) Total 5000 Primary Schools (2018-19) 12/20/2019
