  3. Big Six-Step #1:Task Definition • What am I supposed to do for this assignment? • What information do I need to accomplish this purpose? • Answering the following two questions, will help you formulate a thesis.

  5. Big 6-Step #2: Novels & Encyclopedias • Library books are organized in fiction & non fiction section • Novels are separated by hardcover and paperback sections.   7. Big 6-Step #2: Online Resources There is a wealth of information online on any given topic When you complete a Google search, which sources are useful? Big 6- Step #2: Evaluating Online Resources like Wikipedia • The first hits are the ones most people use, not necessarily the most accurate • Wikipedia serves two purposes only -provides an overview of topic -includes useful references & external links for Works Cited Page • However, anyone can edit & change the information on Wikipedia- DON’T CITE OR INCLUDE ON WORKS CITED PAGE!!   10. Big Six-Step #2:Evaluating Websites C (also useful examining print materials) • I can only retrieve .com sites. What do I do? • Check for the following • Who is writing the site? • What is the date on the site? • Does the information line up with other resources?
