  1. Let Your Pain Heal You No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. Heb. 12:11

  2. Theme God’s plan for pain is to refine and perfect His purpose in us.

  3. Introduction When you take a fall Why is it I have never blamed God? Never got mad at Him? Never disappointed in Him? Never felt like I got a raw deal? Two types of pain: one that hurts you, the other changes you for the good.

  4. 1. What Is Hurt And Pain? HURT 1. To cause physical damage or pain to; injure. 2. To cause mental or emotional suffering to; distress. Disease, Injury, Loss, Disappointment, Loneliness Hurt is the cause, pain is the result. The hurt is what caused the pain. The pain is my response to the hurt.

  5. Understanding Hurt and Pain • Someone insults me. That is the hurt. • The Result? I Feel: Emotional pain comes over me (self image called into question) • My Response?: My choices are I get mad or I get crushed or I forgive. • My Wound: Will I let it heal? Will I let it fester? Will I let it kill me? • My Resources: I depend on me or I depend on the guidance and grace of God.

  6. 2. What Has Pain Been Doing In Lives? Have you ever heard anyone say: “Through all the ease and comfort I experienced, I have learned so much about God and life.”
