  1. Things to Know About Circuit Breakers

  2. Introduction A circuit breaker is a switching machine, used to give safety by cutting off the electrical flow to load in case of any blunder or fault. There are diverse kinds of circuit breakers that are used in houses and industries and commercial complexes, installed as per the rating of the system. The upcoming slides will talk about the different types and needs of circuit breakers.

  3. Use of Circuit Breakers Several types of irregular conditions are there in the electrical system that can smash up the circuit and its parts. These conditions are known as faults, categorized as: • Short Circuit • Overload • Earth To keep electrical parts and components safe and protected from faults, it is crucial to use circuit breakers.

  4. Types of Circuit Breakers Circuit breakers primarily are classified based on function as per voltage: Low Voltage Circuit Breaker Types • MCB • MCCB • RCCB • ACB

  5. High Voltage Circuit Breakers Types • SF6 • VCB • ABCB • OCB Medium Voltage Circuit Breakers SF6/VACUUM Circuit Breakers

  6. Maintenance A circuit breaker should be checked and maintained if required or whenever it disturbs current at or near its rated capacity. Often, there are conditions that make frequent inspection and maintenance necessary. These are:

  7. Frequent fault operations • Dusty or dirty atmosphere • Older equipment • High ambient temperature or humidity • Corrosive atmosphere • Frequent switching operations

  8. Any faults in the electrical components can lead to severe damage to industries, offices, houses, buildings, and schools. The circuit breaker will put off such situations by simply cutting off the remaining circuit.
