Trent Boult Believes Test Series Win Against England Is Different From WTC Final

New Zealand have registered a comfortable Test-series win over England recently but the Kiwi speedster, Trent Boult has said that it would not count much when they will play against India in the WTC final. However, The New Zealand team are already in Southampton on Tuesday for the inaugural edition of the ICC World Test Championship final, which will start on June 18 at the Ageas Bowl as well. While the first Test between New Zealand and England ended in a draw, New Zealand won the second Test by eight wickets and won the series by 1-0 as well under the captaincy of Tom Latham.

  1. Trent Boult Believes Test Series Win Against England Is Different From WTC Final New Zealand have registered a comfortable Test-series win over England recently but the Kiwi speedster, Trent Boult has said that it would not count much when they will play against India in the WTC final. However, their regular captain Kane Williamson, who didn’t play the second Test owing to his elbow injury, has returned to the squad and likely to be fully fit before the much-anticipated summit clash as well. 2. “I don’t think it counts for much. Good preparation, and good for everyone to have a hitout and get some time under their belt,” said Trent Boult, who claimed 6-119 in the second Test. Notably, he didn’t play in the first Test as he returned home from the now-suspended IPL 2021 and joined the team late as well. 3. Boult, who has played 73 Test matches till date, said that he expects a bit of banter with the Indian team since they are more or less familiar, courtesy Indian Premier League. Notably, Boult plays for Mumbai Indians in IPL. “It’s a little bit different, (we’ve seen) a few IPL players and guys we’re familiar with from certain teams. I haven’t seen any of my fellow Mumbai Indians yet and I’m sure there will be a bit of banter and a few smiles shared. Obviously with social distancing everyone is keeping their distance and it’s one of those unique situations,” Trent Boult concluded.
