  2. Chapter 8 Summary • Howard W. Campbell, Jr., a supporter of the Nazi party, spoke to the prisoners and tried to encourage them to join the Nazi party.

  3. Prisoners • The prisoners are angered by his speech. One prisoner stands up and yells at Campbell. A fight breaks out and the men hide in the meat locker for several days.

  4. The Destruction of Dresden • Dresden was not destroyed until the next night.

  5. Remembering • Billy travels back in time in his mind. At this point, Billy remembers a conversation with his daughter, a song being performed by the barber-shop quartet.

  6. Stories • He also time travels back to speak to Montana Wildhack, who is six months pregnant. She asks him to tell her a story. He tells her about the night Dresden was destroyed.

  7. German Inn • He also travels back in time to the night in Dresden, where they stayed in an inn. The innkeeper, who was German, knew about the destruction of Dresden. He still decides to house them.
