  2. 3rd, 4th and 5th Grades • Two groups • Introduction for 3rdand 4th • 5th Grade – cover preliminary and 1st Chapters in the HS Spanish textbook “BuenViaje” • Benchmarks for all three levels – no grades • Progress report – last three grading periods

  3. 6th Grade Spanish – school year • One class only – from two the previous year • Year-long program using the “BuenViaje” textbook - Chapters 2-8 • 30 minute PE and 1 hour after school • Academic expectations – Homework; grades and progress reports (4 times/year); quizzes and tests

  4. 6th Grade Spanish – Summer School • Criteria and teacher recommendation for participation in Summer School – (student readiness, grades, effort, etc.) • 5 week program – 5 days a week; 2 hours each day. • Chapters 9-12 are covered. • Students take Spanish 1 exam at the completion of summer school – require a 75% to move onto Spanish II in 7th grade

  5. Welcome to 7/8 • Summer School Options To Reach Spanish II 1. Teacher recommended for continuation of the 6th grade sequence, complete class, pass exam (75%) 2. Enroll in regular summer school class, pass exam (75%) • Academic vs Enrichment 1. Grades and GPA 2. Meeting Requirements

  7. LCHS 9-12 Course Offerings • Spanish 1-3 plus Advanced Placement Spanish Language and Culture – Grades 10-12 • Incoming 9th Graders – Dedicated Spanish 4 Class • AP Spanish As Possible 5th Year Option • Cohort Advancement

  8. LCHS and College Readiness • Grades earned at LCHS appear on official transcript. • Course work, like Spanish 4, validates prior learning in the eyes of university admissions committees. • College Readiness and UC A-G Requirements • E – Language Other Than English
