  2. Campus Kitchens Project Campus kitchens is made up of St. Lawrence student volunteers and CBL students. We have a shift leader who assigns us our duties and which tables we will be serving that evening. Responsibilities: -loading van and unloading the van -serve food -engage with community members and share the meal with them -clean up, put chairs and tables away

  3. The attendees of the dinner are of all ages and differ in socioeconomic status. There are people in their seventies and then those like Troy, a young rambunctious six year old who regularly attends with his family. Although many people do come to the dinners because they are in need of food, others simply come to share a meal with their community.

Service Learning by Andrew Furco • “Service-learning programs are distinguished from other approaches to experiential education by their intention to benefit the provider and the recipient of the service equally, as well as to ensure equal focus on both the service being provided and the learning that is occurring.” • In class, as we learn more about Food and Community in American Culture we are able to bring what we learn to our experience at Campus Kitchens. This deepens our understanding of what our role is in our community based learning.
