  2. Tell me, Is This You? Public Speaking Does Not Have To Be Scary All you have to do Is find your voice!

  3. RULE #1: Take a deep breath, and don’t panic!

  4. Be Confident! You have all the tools for success!

  5. You are Passionate About Your Subject Matter People respond to a speaker who believes in what they are selling You already know your material, now share what you know!

  6. How Do We Do This? *Use humor, personal triumphs and failures *Use conversational language *Show them gardening-don’t just tell them about it *Above All-BE YOURSELF!

  7. Helpful Hints for Your Presentation If you use a Power Point,

  8. Add Your Own Pictures Basket liners or basket cases? A froggie on my dahlia Kitties are gardeners too! This will show you practice what you preach, and entertain at the same time

  9. If you do not have a Power Point, how about a poster or white board? Container Gardening Soils for Containers Peat Potting Mixes Compost Seed Starters Instant Salad Barrel Planting Tumblin Tom Herbs in a dish

  10. Create an Outline Gardening in Small Spaces A. Sun or Shade? B. Types of Containers C. Choose a Container D. What Do I Plant?

  11. Plan your Presentation *Limit your subject matter (Narrow your topic) *Choose 3 or 4 points (You can’t cover everything today) *Expound on those points (Fully cover your topic)

  12. Use Visual Aids Set up your visual Aids In Order of Appearance #3The Plants #1-The Pot #2-The Soil

  13. Why Visual Aids? *They keep your place *They keep you talking *They keep your hands busy *They add a “how-to” aspect *They emphasize your point *They show others how easy the task is to perform

  14. Tips for Success Never Apologize, Improvise! Take a deep breath & smile! Speak slowly; this is not a race! Bring a friend for moral support

  15. Don’t memorize a speech, talk to people! Don’t read from notes or look at the floor

  16. Don’t be afraid to add a little humor, but remember: A little humor goes a long way!

  17. And Above All.... Practice, Practice, PRACTICE!

  18. The Day of Your Talk *Arrive early *Make sure your video and audio works. *Greet some of the people *Bring a couple friends with you

  19. Have you thought of what youare going to wear? You want to be remembered by Your presentation, not your clothing

  20. Wearing comfortable clothes makes a difference Dress for comfort, and Look Professional Don’t forget your Master Gardener Badge

  21. KNOW your First Lines Hi, I’m Gale Borger from Twin Lakes, in Kenosha County. I am a Racine-Kenosha Master Gardener and today we are going to talk about Gardening in Small Spaces. Small spaces come in Different shapes and sizes....

  22. Stay Focused Do not let noises or people throw you Let people ask questions You can answer while you set up Your next step, or add to what you are doing Work through your talk Don’t be afraid to say, “Good question, I will cover that following This section.”

  23. Always Have a Slam-Bang Finish

  24. Don’t forget.... “Thank you for joining me today. If you have further questions, I will be happy to answer them following this presentation.” And....
