Systems Alignment Background We are Approaching PDCA Improvement in Semester-long ‘Phases’ Previous Improvement Endeavors Assess Progress and Re-plan Fall ‘08 We are here – Fall ‘09 Assess Progress and Re-plan Spring ‘09 Assess Progress and Re-plan Fall ‘09 Time -> Over the course of several years, continuous improvement can just become ‘the way you manage the organization.’

Systems Alignment Background Typical Project Phases Conceptual Design Phase Preliminary Design Phase Detail Design and Implementation Phase • This phase is relevant when a high-level solution to a problem is defined and the details need to be designed, developed and implemented. • This includes possible piloting of solutions, training users and moving a new process into ‘operational’ mode • This phase is relevant when a problem to be solved is understood and a high-level design needs to be created. • Design components may include researching best practices, documenting requirements, designing processes, technical features and/or change management considerations • This phase is relevant when a topic is new with little or no definition for the District. The primary purpose is to perform research on the topic to understand what is available and possible
