There is an opportunity to help at school as well as a few things that can be done at home. • If you are interested in helping in the classroom or attending field trips, be sure to attend one of the volunteer trainings at Wolff. The first training is September 5th , after school. • Parent/Teacher Conferences will be the week of October 21, 2013. • If you have brought in any supplies you are welcome to put your name on the bag and leave them in the large bin. Many items are collected for classroom use.

  8. Classroom Management • Students are expected to follow our classroom and school expectations. • Our classroom expectations are as follows: RESPECT Respect for the school. Respect for others. Respect for yourself. • School expectations can be found in the Student/Parent Handbook. These will be sent home on Monday . Please review them with your child. These are referred to all school year and are important to maintain a successful learning environment. • Students displaying inappropriate behavior will be given three verbal warnings to correct the behavior. Should a student continue to display the inappropriate behavior then a citation will be given. A citation will contain the basic information concerning the behavior and is required to be signed and returned to school the next day. I will notify you via e-mail or phone call of the citation. This may not happen until after school. Please wait until after three for any comments or clarifications. • After a student receives three citations for the same behavior an office referral will be given. An office referral may be given at the discretion of the teacher for any behaviors that pose an immediate safety concern to the student or others around them. • Students making positive choices in class and throughout the building may be rewarded with: classroom privileges and/or notes home. **The above rules will be discussed in class during the first week.

  9. Expectations

  10. Differentiated Learning • During the first month of school many assessments will be given to see your child’s abilities. • After that time students may be asked to complete additional assignments or participate in a variety of learning opportunities based on their ability. • Students have the opportunity to move within the groups established based on the current learning needs of the child.

  11. Curriculum • This year CCSD will continue utilizing Common Core Standards. The mission of the Common Core standards reads… The Common Core State Standards provide a consistent, clear understanding of what students are expected to learn, so teachers and parents know what they need to do to help them. The standards are designed to be robust and relevant to the real world, reflecting the knowledge and skills that our young people need for success in college and careers. With American students fully prepared for the future, our communities will be best positioned to compete successfully in the global economy. • Please refer to the web site for more information. http://www.corestandards.org/

  12. Assessments • Students are assessed on an informal and formal basis. • Formal assessments are those that target a particular Common Core Standard and will be used to calculate the student’s report card grades. • Some assessments may be given online, through performance assessments, or traditional paper methods.

  13. Lunch Changes • This year Wolff will be a Satellite lunch sight. • This means students will have packaged items to choose from when they go through the line.

  14. If at any time you are concerned, confused, or excited about your child’s learning experiences please follow the established Chain of Command for CCSD and contact me. I want your child to enjoy their time with me and leave my classroom ready to take on the world.
