  3. Introduction • Motor Generator Not Working • Suspect there is an open phase at the Generator • Tracking down signal measuring points • HMI Screen: Clearview and Relab

  4. Goals • Fix the motor generator set • Update the HMI screen • See the real time values of the currents and voltages at different points

  5. Motor-Generator Set Touble Shoot • There is an open phase at the generator. Suspect a blow fuse • The fuses were checked with a digital multi meter. Number 3 fuse was blown

  6. Motor-Generator Set Test • The motor-generator set is able to synchronize to the grid as well as power the load (light bulbs) • The motor-generator set is considered fully functional

  7. Determine the measuring points • The existed diagram is not fast to navigate • An updated connecting diagram is needed • The new diagram is going to be specific for the M-G connections

  13. HMI • Clearview HMI Screen - One Line Diagram - Communications - Real Time Data (New) • Relab gets the data from the relays • Data is shown in HMI using the tags

  14. One Line Diagram • HMI Screen shows the one line diagram of the Analog Model Power System • Includes the source, buses, lines, relays connection, breakers, and generator. Fig: AMPS one-line diagram in HMI Fig: AMPS one-line diagram

Communications Architecture • Shows how the HMI and the relays are connected • SEL 734/PMUs (Phasor Measurement Units) are connected to SEL 3306/Synchrophasor, and connected to the HMI through Ethernet switches • The relays SEL 311L, SEL321, SEL 421, SEL 351S are connected to the SEL 2030/Communications Processor, and connected to the HMI Server Fig: Communication Architecture

  16. Real Time Data • Real Time Data Screen Added to the HMI • Shows the voltages and currents at each lines, source, and the generator set through the SEL relays. Fig: Real Time Data in the HMI

  17. Conclusion • Motor Generator Set Problem Fixed • Real Time Data Shown in the Clearview HMI • Can view the real time voltages and currents at each lines, source, and the generator.
