  4. How to get on the tutors’ good side! • Turn up on time • If you know you will be missing a session, email Nick in advance with your reason • If you miss a session unexpectedly, email Nick with an apology and your reason • Do an equal share of group / team work • Actively participate in workshops • Don’t ask silly questions • Put effort in to the module!

  5. How to do well in group tasks • Use reliable sources (not Wikipedia) • Don’t copy and paste from the internet • Divide work up equally in your group • Meet up to collate your work • Use Dropbox / Google docs to share work • Don’t leave it to the last minute! • Help each other • Make sure someone prints it out

  6. Task 4 - Business/ICT relationships and gaps Carry out some research into relationships between organisations and ICT, with particular reference to gaps between the two, using more than one source and more than one medium. Some resources will be offered via Blackboard to kick this off (and may be exhibited during the workshop if time permits), though you are also expected to find and use your own, and doing so will stand you in good stead for the later parts of this module (and impress tutors suitably!). Prepare a mini-presentation of your findings to last no more than 3 minutes in workshop 3 next week, including a visual aid in a medium/format of your own choosing that can be employed in class. Show informed use of sources and resources as part of your presentation and include accurate citations. Critical commentary/evaluation/opinion is also expected, not just bare facts.

  7. Task 4 - Business/ICT relationships and gaps • Use books / journals / articles / websites • Ask ITMB / BABIS students to look in their textbooks • Good example vs. Bad example (?) • IT vs. Business Managers (?) • Common failings of Business/ICT relationships (?) • A suitable diagram to explain during the presentation (?) • How to avoid problems between Business/ICT (?) • Relevant statistics (?) • Use your last slide for references – use the Harvard referencing system. Keep it on the screen when you answer questions.http://www.uwe.ac.uk/library/resources/general/iskillzone/referencing/harvardreferencing/

  8. Task 4 - Business/ICT relationships and gaps • Don’t forget to evaluate!!! • WHY was something good / bad? • WHYwas this diagram suitable to use? • WHY did you choose those sources? • ... etc

  9. Task 4 - Business/ICT relationships and gaps • Presentation Tips • Don’t write everything on the slide • No annoying animations! • Meet up and practice • Time yourself • Make sure everyone speaks equally • Be prepared to answer questions << Upload to Blackboard by 5pm TODAY >>
