  2. Data Dissemination Publishing Section was established since the founding of the Department of Statistics in 1949 and is considered one of the prestigious institutions circle and one of the first Enter the computer at work stages.

  3. Why Data Dissemination? To produce and disseminate timely and high-quality statistical data to meet the user’s various and changing needs with a view to contributing to the comprehensive development process in Jordan.

  4. Data Dissemination DISSEMINATION POLICY: • Data should be relevant Seeking out users and asking for their ideas on how to improve your products and services is the best way to stay relevant. • Monitoring of user requirements for: • Timeliness • Accessibility • Data quality & consistency • Confidentiality • Latest methods of dissemination

  5. Data Dissemination Ways and Means of Dissemination Data : 1- Traditional: • Publications and Reports (Hardcopy ). • Press and Press Releases . • Library and Personal visits. • CD- Rom 2- Electronic: • Website. 3- Public office: • E-mail (After determine data user needs) .

  6. Data Dissemination Website data Dissemination : • Surveys • Household, Employmentand Unemployment, etc…. Example (Employment and Unemployment): • Previously we published just main tables ( max 12 table). • From 2007 until 2010 we published all the tables in PDF form. • From 2010 until now it became dynamic from Database directly. Benefits of (Dynamic Tables): • Save time and effort (minutes=weeks). • Any changes on Data will be reflected directly on tables. Note: we applied this way on many of surveys.

Data Dissemination Website data Dissemination : • Statistical Systems  JordanInfo, Nada, Trade and Investment, etc… Example (JordanInfo): A database containing : • 16 sector • 3 regions (12 Government) • 10 years • 282 indicator The user gets the result in different forms : • Tables • Maps • charts

Data Dissemination Website data Dissemination : Nada Portal: • NADA (The National Data Archive) is a web-based cataloging system that serves as a portal for researchers to browse, search, compare, apply for access, and download relevant census or survey information. It was originally developed to support the establishment of national survey data archives. • It is produced from the International Household Survey Network (IHSN) to improve the availability, accessibility, and quality of survey data in the Statistical centers.

  12. Data Dissemination Statistical calendar: Statistical Calendar has been designed to help various users in knowing the time and date of dissemination to different surveys and all the bulletins issued by the Department of Statistics.

DATA DISSEMINATION Problems experienced by data users: • Lack of technical knowledge of statistical processes, and methodology. • Data produced doesn’t meet anticipated needs. • Data not available in time frame requested by users. • Sometimes data are difficult to be interpreted. • Data inaccessible.

  14. DATA DISSEMINATION Challenges & Solutions: • Develop New web for DOS that contains: • User friendly design. • Search engine. • Dynamic tables in several forms (PDF, Excel). • Improving Intranet through SharePoint using. • Data warehouse.

  15. Conclusion Jordanian Department of Statistics has been working for over 64 years to collect data about all aspects of life, and is committed to providing relevant data to meet user needs. Thank you for your kind attention
