TRANSISTORS 4 • Distribution of transistors according to performance • Conventional transistors : • - usually process a signal in units of volts. • - Current is maximum in the order of milliamps • Medium-performance transistors: • - work mostly in the linear regime, for example, they are used for linear voltage regulators, or for power levels for audio amplifiers. • Power transistors : • - in a switching mode it works with a voltage (tens of kilovolts) and currents of hundreds or thousands of amperes.
