  3. Example • What is the ratio of stars to moons? • What is the ratio of moons to stars?

  4. Example • Describe the relationship of the number of pens to the number of erasers.

  5. Party Mix Recipe Makes 8 cups 4 cups pretzels 2 cups bagel chips 1 cup cheese crackers 1 cup peanuts The party mix recipe requires ___ cup(s) of pretzels and ___ cup(s) of bagel chips. Write the ratio of pretzels to bagel chips in three different ways. The recipe makes a total of ____ cups of party mix. Write the ratio of pretzels to total party mix in three different ways.

  6. Equivalent Ratios • These are ratios that name the same comparison. Find equivalent ratios by multiplying or dividing both terms of a ratio by the same number. 2 x2 = 4 7 x2 = 14 8 ÷4 = 2 24 ÷4 = 6

  7. Whiteboards Find each equivalent ratio: 5 = 6 24 2 18 = 3 1 8 = 4 42 = 49 7 30 = 6 3 8 = 4 1

  8. Whiteboards Find three ratios equivalent to the given ratio. 6 8 24 18 15 10 36 60

  9. For the Boo Bash you need to make the punch. The recipe makes 5 cups of punch by mixing 3 cups of cranberry juice with 2 cups of apple juice. What is the ratio of cranberry to apple juice? Will the juice taste more like cranberry juice or more like apple juice?

  10. Using the ratio of cranberry juice to apple juice for the punch recipe, double and triple the recipe by finding an equivalent ratio. Find three other ratios equivalent to 3/2. There are 90 students going to the Boo Bash. How much of each juice would you need to make 90 cups of punch?
