The Current Condition • 1 in 3 children in our nation are overweight or obese • Over 19% of children ages 2-19 have untreated dental caries • Children spend approx 7.5 hours a day using entertainment media compared to 25 minutes reading “The physical and emotional health of an entire generation and the economic health and security of our nation is at stake.” -Michelle Obama

  3. Our solution • Target 3rd grade students in an underserved elementary school • OUSCM students teach 4 part H.E.A.L.T.H program • Nutrition • Physical Activity • Hygiene • Lifestyle choices

Goals • Stakeholders: • Underprivileged Tulsa public school • children • OU School of Community Medicine • OUSCM Students • Vision: • Grow the program to include students in grades 3-8 and cover a variety of age appropriate health topics • Tracking Progress: • Pre/Post Survey by participants • Longitudinal study of progress
