Proposal to hold HB2010 in Switzerland, hosted by PSI • PSI is a large (~1300 employees) multidisciplinary institute with a long history in particle accelerators; PSI has successfully organized large conferences as EPAC’01 in Lucerne • PSI operates a MW proton beam facility and spallation source [highest beam power at present]; this facility is heavily used and an upgrade program is under way • Switzerland is located in the center of Europe, it has excellent infrastructure in terms of hotels, conference facilities and public transportation; attractive landscape and touristic highlights • our bid is authorized and supported by PSI’s director Joel Mesot
beam current history [2.2mA = 1.3MW] PSI Proton Facility Ring Cyclotron spall. source p-Therapy • other PSI accelerator activities • new free electron laser project [Angstrom wavelength, 6GeV beam] • Swiss Light Source SLS (operated since 2001) • + other research areas: proton therapy, energy, nucl. energy, environment, particle physics… µ experiments
