  1. ERT 417/4 Waste Treatment in Bioprocess Industry Tuesday : 3- 5pm / DKM3 (class) Wednesday : 9-11.00 am / BS (tutorial) : 3-6pm (lab) Thursday : 8-9 am./BKD2 (class) By; Mrs Hafiza Binti Shukor

  2. Sinopsis kursus/ Course synopsis: This course covers waste treatment methods that are commonly used in industries. It’s introduced to the terms that are related to waste and how to calculate the properties such as biological oxygen demand (BOD), chemical oxygen demand (COD) and total carbon (TOC). From these calculations and other given information, basic unit operations involved in the treatment of waste can be design. This course also give an understanding on the processes involved in waste treatment for different industries keeping in view of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and legal framework.

  3. Hasil Pembelajaran/ Learning Outcomes: At the end of the course, students are expected to acquire these ability: • Ability to explain, interprets, and calculates the physical, chemical, and biological properties of waste material and describes its toxicology. • Ability to calculate and design the basic structure of waste treatment unit operations. • Ability to interpret, compares, justify and choose the correct method for a particular waste for treatment. • Ability to interpret, justifies, and proposes the common waste management practice in industry and describe the legal framework structure.
