Fall READING WEEK

Fall Reading Week is an initiative to support undergrad and grad students in ensuring a successful term by providing a break in the fall course schedule. Use the time to rest, focus on personal wellness, study for midterms, catch up on readings and assignments. Examples of activities include clinical rotations, attending drop-in sessions, booking study spaces, exploring the city, and utilizing online resources.

Students are encouraged to use the time to prepare for the rest of term. Students might choose to: REST AND FOCUS ON PERSONAL WELLNESS STUDY FOR UPCOMING MIDTERMS CATCH UP ON READINGS AND ASSIGNMENTS Fall Reading Week

Fall Reading Week Examples of what to expect during Fall Reading Week include: • School of Pharmacy clinical rotations • The Centre will be open • Most University offices and services will be open and available as usual • Classes • Seminars • Exams, midterms, tests • Labs • Assignment deadlines • Other course components • Co-op scheduled interviews Fall Reading Week includes Saturday October 12 through Sunday October 20.   4. Fall Reading Week Going away from campus? You could… Staying around campus? You could… Attend a drop-in, book a co-op consult or career planning appointment with the Centre for Career Action Book a library study space or find an open classroom on Portal, if you want a spot to get some work done Attend a drop-in session at the library for support from the Centre for Career Action, Student Success Office, Writing and Communications Center, and Library staff! Visit CareerHub for online career planning resources or get out and network to learn about potential careers Use the Student Success Office’s online resources for study and time management tips Connect virtually with the Writing and Communication Centre or library or check out their online resources Plan for your future Catch up or get ahead Build your skills Fall Reading Week

  5. Fall Reading Week Going away from campus? You could… Staying around campus? You could… Read a title from the Library’s Waterloo Reads collection. Borrow a board game from the library, your residence front desk, or the Turnkey desk. Play some ping pong, visit the piano room, or borrow some sports equipment from Housing and Residences. Explore the city or region with your GRT Upass. Check out KW Oktoberfest! Check out an eBook from the Library. Catch up with family and friends at home. Visit your favorite places, explore your surroundings, get outside. Relax Have some fun Fall Reading Week

  6. Fall Reading Week Going away from campus? You could… Staying around campus? You could… Health and Counselling Services are open and Residence Dons are available if you need them. Book quiet prayer, reflection, or meditation space in the DP library or your residence. Take naps! Use the Athletics fitness centres, gyms or pools. Discover online workshops and seminars available through Campus Wellness. Lots of rest will help you to recharge. Get plenty of sleep and downtime! Visit a local gym or head outside for some fresh air and exercise. Take good care of yourself! Fall Reading Week
