Hush characters - a deaf woman with no family, her neighbours and the serial killer. Theme – horror/thriller, very violent and is extremely frustrating to watch as you feel as if you are hiding from the killer with her, extremely tense. Narrative – a deaf woman lives alone in the woods and the only people close to her are her neighbours, she is extremely isolated and alone. After a normal night she starts to get messages that are pictures of her, she quickly realises she is being watched and Panicks, after a while we see her neighbour get murdered Infront of her and she has top fight for her life against this masked killer, in the end she managed to win, and all is well. This is relevant to our opening sequence as we tried to re-create that tense feeling that you get when watching this film, in our opening sequence the girl is hiding from who we presume to be a dangerous person and we are on the edge of our seats hoping that she is going to be okay, therefor watching this helped us bring it to life. Setting/location - in the middle of the woods extremely isolated and very unnerving to watch as she has no one to help her, this also means that she has no service which becomes a main aspect of the storyline, it's clear that the producer of this movie has put a lot of thought into the location so that it aids the narrative.
Orphan Characters - a family of four a mother a father and two children a boy and his younger sister, and a young girl who they adopt. Theme – mystery/thriller, a lot of suspense it's an obvious slow burn and we don’t know what the truth is till the very end of the film keeping us on the edge of our seats and invested in the film. Narrative – a normal American couple with two children decide to adopt from the local orphanage, at the start the girl they chose came across sweet and innocent, however as the movie progresses we see that there is clearly something wrong or suspicious about this young girl, she slowly starts to make threats, use extremely adult language and then eventually ends up trying to seduce the father, in the end we are told that she is actually a 34 year old woman who has an illness making her appear as a child, things turn violent and people get hurt. This is relevant to our film idea as she is technically posing as a catfish, she is pretending she is someone she is not much like the stalker in our film, this was a big inspiration into the idea of our film. The location is at a manor house in the heart of the English countryside, a very typical convention of an American thriller.
One hour photo Characters – a middle aged man working in a photo developing lab, the Yorkin family, loyal customers of his that have been giving him their photos to develop for years. In this family there are children of a similar age to our protagonist. Theme - an American phycological thriller Narrative - a photo developer gains an obsession with a family who have been using his business for many years, they suspect nothing but it's clear that he is dangerous, he begins to harbour an obsession with the family and Setting/location - the location in which the photo developer works is small and isolated, like the bathroom stall that the girl is trapped in in our opening sequence, also the family home.
