  1. Then and Now

  2. What Happened?: • I assaulted the victim, by beating. • The police came to my house, and put me in hand cuffs. • I was arrested.

  3. Consequences: The Victim • The victim and his family were deeply affected by my actions. Injured Hurt Anger Fear Scared Worried Sadness

  4. Consequences: For Me • I lost the trust of my family. • They were disappointed in me. • They treated me differently because they worried every time I went out. • I had an earlier curfew. • I couldn’t see some of my friends. • I lost my free time. • I got a criminal record and a referral order. • I went to court

  5. Consequences: Positive • I met Nic. She helped me a lot! • She talked to me like a friend and was interested in me, not just what I’d done. • She helped me to change the way I looked upon myself. • She helped me to gain some self respect and respect for the people around me. • She listened to what I had to say and took the time to explain things to me. • She understood my difficulties and never got frustrated. • She never judged me.

  6. Were my actions the right actions? NO! • Hitting people doesn’t solve problems, but creates them for everybody involved.

  7. What could I have done differently? • Ignored him. • Talked to him, instead of attacking him. How would I react now? • Not acknowledge him. • Wouldn’t talk to him. • Definitely not attacking him.

  8. I hope you can see from this power point, that I have learnt that my actions affect everyone not just me, and I will think before I act in the future.
