Press Coverage inAnanda Bazar Patrika on 27/02/2013 A Special training program on Information Technology A special training program (SAKSHAM) on Information Technology has started at Vidyasagar University for educators from various affiliated colleges. Honorable Vice Chancellor Prof. RanjanChakrabarty inaugurated the program on Tuesday,26th Feb. Microsoft is venturing into trainings in the state of West Bengal via Saksham,. Saksham is based on MHRD’s NME-ICT .Information technology giant Microsoft empowers university educators under this program so that they can use modern technology to teach. Microsoft facilitators will also have a hands on session on each tool. This program will reach in 20,000 educational institutions and one lakh teachers all over the country. The inaugural session of this 10 day training was graced by Ms. ShivaniSahai, ProgrammeManager, Microsoft and Mr. Kaushik Biswas, Training Manager. Mr. Biswas said that Microsoft Saksham has been conducted so far in 23 universities and trained 600 professors. After completion of this training, teachers will be able to use new technology to make their class room innovative. For higher education a knowledge network will be created among the educational institutes, where the teachers can exchange their knowledge. Professor RanjanChakrabarty, Vice Chancellor, Vidyasagar University said that the teachers of this university will be benefitted through this training program.

  16. Saksham -Reflections This type of I.C.T training intended for university teachers will be of overriding importance for dexterity of information in every level. For our developing subcontinent these type of initiatives should help the teachers to cope with their profession and everyday needs like banking, computing, social networking etc. Mr. KausikGhosh, Vidyasagar University “National Mission on Education through ICT’’-SAKSHAM designed by Microsoft to drive Education through ICT for Higher Education. It was a wonderful gathering of the representatives from different departments of our university. We have enjoyed every moment of the program with many interactive sessions on soft skills, activities; IT based knowledge, more creative ways of teaching. This training program also provides us a platform for sharing innovative ideas of your work with other colleagues, and reaches out to the entire teaching community with your ideas.
