2. 11 year old Jeff and 9 year old David are two Very adventurous Brothers That live on a lake.

4. They live with their mom and two dogs. Their cousin lives down the street with a poodle.

6. For David’s Birthday, his mom will let them canoe across the lake and explore a abandoned island

7. But they want to go before his birthday, so the secretly set off

9. But when they get on the island, the dogs run away… and then they here barking like they are in trouble

11. The boys Run to the barks and they find the dogs unharmed… but one dog has something in his mouth

12. IT’S A HUMAN FOOT!

13. The boys are disgusted so the burry the foot and put a rock over it so the know where it is just in case

14. The boys decide to go back, but when they get back to shore, they notice somebody watching them from the other side of the lake

16. They remember that their cousin Clair got binoculars for her birthday… and realize its their cousin Clair! She is going to tell their mom and they will get busted!

18. When they get back, they have no choice but to let her in on the exploration

20. Since then, The three kids and three dogs go on a few more adventures to the island finding nothing.

22. Until one day they find an old abandoned cabin in the middle of the woods

24. They go inside and they notice a cabinet, a fireplace and a tree Growing through the roof

26. They look inside of one of the drawers, and they find something…

28. They find and old article about a robber called the Silver Spur Bandit and a pair of silver spurs…

29. The article talks about the bandit being missing with treasure on the island after a bloody gun battle…

30. So they put 2 and 2 together and they figure out the spurs are the bandits, the foot that the dog found was lost in the gun battle…

31. And the treasure is still on the island!

32. They all agree that they need more information before they start trying to find the treasure

34. Jeff notices a name at the bottom of the newspaper, it says “Sheriff Gus Penny and Posse Searching”

35. They know that down the street, Gus Penny III lives in a hidden house in the woods, they decide to go to his house to see if he has and information

37. They Kayak home, get on their bikes, and race 25 minuets away to Mr. Penny's house

39. They get to his house, and he automatically says he doesn't want to talk about anything

40. NO

41. But the kids don’t give up, and they get him to tell them valuable information about the bandit and the legend

42. They get info like who the bandit was, how the island used to be a vacation spot and he tells the kids there are some maps of the island in the town library.

44. They decide to go to the library, so they bike another half hour to the town and go into the library

46. They get to the library, and it is crowded with people, there is no way they can do this in public!

48. They decide to go on with it and just try to hide the fact that they are actually know where something valuable is

50. Thy find an empty table, lay out the evidence they have found so far and start figuring out the mystery
