  1. Tues. April 19 • The flag of China, most recently adopted on 1 October 1949, has a red background, symbolizing revolution. The larger star represents the Chinese Communist Party; the smaller stars represent the Chinese people.

  2. Wed. April 20 • The flag of India was last adopted on 22 July 1947. It consists of three horizontal stripes of saffron, white, and green. Saffron stands for courage and sacrifice; white, for truth; and green, for faith. The 24-spoke wheel in the center represents the Dharma Chakra.

  3. Thurs. April 21 • The flag of Japan, most recently adopted on 13 August 1999, is called Hinomaru, or “the Rising Sun.” Inspired by Japan's beautiful ocean sunrises, the flag's design uses a large red circle to depict the sun.

  4. Fri. April 22 • The flag of Vietnam was most recently adopted on 30 November 1955.. Red symbolizes luck and happiness as well as revolution and the struggle for liberty. Yellow is the color of royalty. The star represents socialist ideals.

  5. Mon. April 25 • The flag of North Korea was most recently adopted on 8 September 1948. Blue represents the people's desire for peace; red, the path to socialism; and white, dignity and strength. The star symbolizes the role of the Korean Worker's Party in building socialism.

  6. Tues April 26 • The flag of South Korea, most recently adopted on 1/25/1950,. Its white symbolizes peace and purity. The center, signifies the concept of creation. The surrounding symbols represent the 4 universal elements: heaven, earth, fire, and water.

  7. Wednes. April 27 • The flag of Taiwan was most recently adopted on 10/28/1928. Blue symbolizes liberty and justice; white, equality and brightness; and red, union and sacrifice. The sun symbolizes progress.

  8. Thurs. April 28 • The flag of Thailand was most recently adopted on 9/28/1917. Red stands for the blood of martyrs; white, for purity and Buddhism; and blue, for the monarchy.

  9. Fri. April 29 • The flag of Pakistan, most recently adopted on 14 August 1947, uses white to represent minorities and green to represent the Muslim majority.. The crescent moon and star are a traditional symbols of Islam.
