  1. The Question of Resurrection & More Matthew 22:23-33

  2. Introduction • A group of Sadducees approaches Jesus • They were not testing him; they were investigating

  3. Sadducees • Their concern was earthly life only • They were OK with Roman • Sadducees did not believe in the resurrection

  4. Resurrection • Jesus points out that our God is God of the living • Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob are considered living Ruach • Image of God means part of us is Spiritual as God is Spiritual

  5. Five parts of the Human Soul (Kabbalah) • Nefesh – flesh • Ruach – Spirit • Neshamah – Spark of God • Chayah – Awareness of God and can obtain wisdom • Yehidah – spiritual connection to God

  6. For Us Today • Question is: so which Laws do we have to follow? • Are some biblical laws archaic now? (Like kosher laws) • The laws were developed to save lives • As human knowledge increases some biblical laws may no longer apply

  7. FOR US TODAY - Continued • Each one of us has to determine the laws we follow – 613 laws, cannot follow all • Is it right for the Church to tell us which ones to follow? • Ultimately each of us will have to tell God why we followed some and not others • Church division should not occur because of differences of opinion on the laws • Next week we will discuss how we can stay in the community while following different laws
