  1. Good vs. Evil Mark 4:33-41

  2. Introduction • Jesus like to withdraw from people from time to time • They get on a boat and travel out from the land

  3. Culture • Sea of Galilee is 25 miles wide • Boats did not venture out to the center of the sea • It was believed that the “Abyss” was there (entrance to hell) • Wind storms were common on the Sea • Boats were easily overturned in rough seas • Usually, the boat sails near the sure • The implication is that they were far from shore

  4. Biblical Points • Prophets of old could control nature with God’s assistance. • Elijah – fire from heaven • Moses – parting of the Red Sea

  5. For Us Today • Let’s look at this story as the battle of Good and Evil • The wind is evil while Jesus is Good • We need to have faith that Good will always triumph no matter how “bad” evil makes things look • Faith – turn to Jesus when evil strikes • Anything is possible with God!
