  1. Mark 2:23-28 • Sabbath, dinner

  2. Introduction • Jesus and his disciples walk through a wheat field • Jesus has dinner with Abiathar,the high priest

  3. Biblical Gleanings • Free wheat? • Question about work on the Sabbath?

Abiathar • Who was he? • This name is only in Mark and only verse 2:26 • IRONY in the Bible • He was not High Priest • He was from the Old Testament • He stood against the House of Zadok • Mark’s author is saying that Jesus did not agree with the High Priest’s biblical interpretations or edicts without directly saying it • Jesus dared to ask the questions

  5. For Us Today • We should question what we are told about the Bible and doctrine • We need to study the Bible to know what the original message is • We need to have the courage to ask questions
