  1. Who from the group of bullies could be arrested and what offence could they be charged with? • What sentence might bullies involved in the activities seen receive? • During the film, various insults were used against those characters who were seen as being gay. Is this bullying or a criminal offence? • What other types of bullying might gay people experience? • Is homophobia acceptable? Is it a problem? • In many scenarios including those in the films, homophobic terms and images are used via messaging a phone, Facebook and writing on a text book. Is this a criminal offence? • Why do you think the characters perceived as being gay in the film were bullied? • What does homophobic or other forms of bullying say about those doing it? • There can be real concerns for young people in telling their parents that they are gay or bi-sexual. This could be due to parents being religious. Is homosexuality banned in some religions? • How can we challenge homophobic attitudes? • What were the effects on the main characters in the scenario?

  2. There are three clear principles behind the Government’s position: We can’t allow any young person to go to school dreading the treatment they will get. When a bullied child is brave enough to speak out, we must support them – not the bully. When bullies are identified, we can’t just suspend them for a couple of days and then allow them to saunter back into school to torment their victims all over again. Instances of bullying, including cyber-bullying and prejudice-based bullying related to special educational need, sexual orientation, sex, race, religion and belief, gender reassignment or disability are extremely rare. Pupils are acutely aware of different forms of bullying and actively try to prevent it from occurring. The school has an active and highly effective approach to identifying and tackling bullying. All groups of pupils feel safe at school at all times.
